Bio
I am co-Founder and Director of CoExist, an artist-led space and studios in Southend-on-sea, where I also co-ordinate and run the onsite darkroom. I am Event Co-Ordinator of Artside, a contemporary site-specific arts festival that takes place in Southend High Street annually, and I also teach a number of photography workshops at TAP.
Statement
I work with both digital
and analog photography, and I enjoy hand-processing and printing both in the darkroom
and also using daylight processes such as cyanotype and van Dyck which allow me to spend time with the image and make a slower and
more thoughtful response.
My work explores organic, natural processes; growth,
decay, texture, patina, corrosion, wabi-sabi and the interplay of
nature and man-made - from uninhabited stretches of coastline through
abstract textures and colour studies to minute forgotten landscapes.
Examining the cycle of growth and decay through a series of biological tissue and plant slides from the 19th century.
